Are you using the correct Skype Name and password? |
You'll need to know your Skype Name and password
to sign in to Skype.

Is there a problem with your internet connection? |
Close any applications that use the internet (especially
those that might be playing music or video) and cancel
any file downloads. If you are using a wireless connection,
make sure you have a good signal. Then try signing
in again.

Is your computer running slowly? |
Close any open programs. If you’re using a laptop,
make sure it is not in power-saving mode by plugging
it in and switching it to maximum performance mode.
Also, make sure that your computer meets the minimum
system requirements to run Skype. |
Are you using the latest version of Skype? |
Upgrading to the latest
version of Skype may fix your problem. If you're
not sure which version of Skype you're using, it's
easy to find out. |
Are you already signed in to Skype? |
Sometimes your computer may think you are signed in
to Skype when you are not. To fix this, make
sure that Skype is no longer running, restart Skype,
and then try to sign in. |
Do you get a Disk I/O error? |

Have you made any changes to your computer? |
If you have made any changes to your computer, such
as installing or uninstalling programs, adding new hardware,
or changing registry settings, you may need to restart
you computer. If that doesn't help, try undoing your
changes. |
Is Skype running in compatibility mode? |
Running Skype in compatibility mode is not recommended.
If you do, Skype may not work correctly.

Do you use a firewall? |
Some firewalls can block Skype. To resolve this,
make sure that your firewall is configured to allow
Skype to access the network.
